PARADE: For those taking part in the parade…this is also on Saturday, August 10th. We will meet at the parade site beginning between 10am-11am (more details to come later). If you are planning to play on the float…music will be sent out to you in the next week…virtually, and we will have two rehearsal immediately after the July 27th & August 3rd rehearsal. Music does not need to be memorized, as we will have music stands on the float.

Here are a few things I would like worked on over the next couple of weeks:

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean: measure 29 (transition) & measure 96 = transition into 1 beat per measure and keeping the tempo under control.

  2. Kindred Spirits = keep running through this piece, and practice any parts you may need some additional woodshedding.

  3. Star Trek into Darkness = Measure 1-5: Keep clean, practice show and build up to tempo. Measure 19: strings = spicatto…all keep light & separated. Measure 58: Trumpet…soft & light articulation here. Measure 96: = piano (volume). Measure 173 — All Parts = Look @ this final section to close the piece. Clarinets and alto clarinet…work on this triplet run near the end.

  4. African Dreams = Listen and work on the entire selection.

  5. All the Pretty Little Horses = Practice and run through the entire selection. Clarinets: @ Measure 43…support your sound, but keep it soft as the flute is the lead melody here and should be heard.

  6. Sunrise Selection: We have not practices this piece, but please look through as we may have time to put this together.

  7. Pavane for a Dead Apatosaurus = Practice the pickup to Measure 42 and work on this selection to the end. Please listen to the recording on our website.

  8. We are the World = Listen to & work on this entire selection

  9. Gravitas = Listen to & work on this entire selection

  10. Circles = Listen to & work on this entire selection.

*** We worked hard on “We are the World,” “Circles,” and “Gravitas” this past Saturday, and they all came together really nice. Great rehearsal. Please continue to listen to these selections on our website, and practice.

Here is the concert order for our Summer Regatta concert:
